That aside, can we talk about how hot it was yesterday?! I mean, I love hot weather as much as the next girl (I say girl; I’m kidding: I’m 40), but honestly: 38.1 degrees?! 🔥Am oddly proud that Cambridge set the UK temperature record. Well done, city of mine. Meanwhile, I was packing all day for my hols (which - tenuous link - are partly in the Ile de Re, where this pic was taken☝🏼) whilst wrangling two children who were also HOT. The garden sprinkler helped. Slightly. It was so hot on Wednesday evening that we all went and lay in a local lido, sort of vaguely astonished at how hot it was... now I’m in a queue for the Eurotunnel. No, YOU’RE having too much fun...🤣

We’ve been having a proper switch-up of our ground floor this year, which has resulted in some much-needed redecoration...🤗 A redesigned entrance hall meant new ceilings (to replace the vile woodchip, which I’ve ignored for nine years and could tolerate no more 😖), proper, wedding-cake cornice and the prettiest ceiling rose. We’re re-hanging all our pictures as well, and this unseasonably frosty scene has landed here while we wait for a larger print to arrive...🌿
